Winchester’s summer events haven’t disappointed thus far – and that’s continuing into August! Check out some local events going on this month:
“Norman Rockwell’s America” Exhibition
Now through August 8
Museum of the Shenandoah Valley
If you’ve been meaning to get over to the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley to check out the Norman Rockwell exhibit, you’ve only got a few days left. “Norman Rockwell’s America” runs at the museum through August 8. Information on the exhibit, including admission fee information, can be found here. (Individual and family admission fees are waived on Wednesdays.)
Swim Under the Stars
Saturday, August 7, 7-11 p.m.
Jim Barnett Park Outdoor Pool
Jim Barnett Park outdoor pool will be open late, from 7 to 11 p.m., for night swimming on August 7. Daily admission fee applies, or admission is included with a membership. Music and activities are included.
Gardens at Night: Groove Train
Friday, August 13, 5:30 p.m.
Gardens at the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley
Groove Train will be performing disco favorites, live at the MSV Gardens on Friday, August 13. The gates open at 5:30 p.m., food and drink stations will open at 6 p.m., and music starts at 7 p.m. Bring your own chair. Local food and drinks will be available for purchase. Route 11 Yard Crawl
Saturday, August 14, 7 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Starting at 7 a.m. on Saturday the 14, Route 11 (from Stephens City all the way to New Market) will be full of yard sales, antiques, vendors and more for the Route 11 Yard Crawl. The sales will span a distance of over 40 miles along Route 11. More information can be found here.
Belle Grove Wine Fest
Saturday, August 28, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Belle Grove Plantation
An all-day event at Belle Grove Plantation, the Wine Fest will include live music by Gingerfunk Allstars and the Elizabeth Lawrence Band, along with various artisan and merchandise vendors. Food will be available for purchase. Guests are invited to bring lawn chairs and pop-up tents to enjoy live music from the lawn. Ticket purchasing and other information can be found here.
Monday, August 30, 6-9 p.m.
Shenandoah University Athletics & Events Center
After having to cancel their game here last year due to pandemic concerns, the Harlem Globetrotters are making their way to Winchester in 2021, and will be performing at Shenandoah University at the end of the month. You can go here for ticket purchasing and more information.
